• Other players have three seconds to challenge with a longer word using the same pool of cards.
• The longest correct word wins the round and the player takes the cards used in their word.
• Refill the table back to ten cards.

Collect cards by building the longest correct words.

• Flip three cards into the centre to form the Whariki.
• Place the remaining deck to the side as the Puna face down.
• Leave space for a discard pile called the Para.

How to Play

• On your turn create a valid Maori word using cards from your hand and any of the cards on the Whariki.
• Move any Whariki cards you did not use into the Para.
• Place the cards you used as your word back into the centre as the new Whariki.
• Count how many cards you used. That number is your score for the turn.
• Draw from the Puna until you are back to five cards in your hand.
• The next player creates a new word using their hand and the new Whariki.

Goal

Score the most points by building correct words and using the Whariki effectively.

Setup

• Shuffle the ORO deck.
• Deal the entire deck into nine piles as evenly as possible in a 3 by 3 grid, all face down.
• Flip the top card of each pile face up to make the Tukutuku grid.
• Leave space beside the grid for te Para and for each players word pile.

How to Play

• On your turn look at the nine face up cards on the grid.
• Tap or select one face up card to start your word.
• Then tap connected cards that touch the last card you selected up, down, left, right or diagonally to build your word.
• You cannot use the same grid space twice in the same turn.
• When you have a valid Maori word stop and say the word clearly.
• Take all cards you selected and place them into your word pile.
• For each empty grid space flip the next card in that pile face up. If a pile has no cards left that space stays empty.

Goal

Score one point for each card used in your words. The highest total wins when no more words can be made or all piles are empty.
